Afterschool Programs

ON-SITE PROGRAMS:

Alvarado boasts two exceptional on-site afterschool programs: GLO and ExCEL. GLO is a fee-based program, and ExCEL is a free, invitation-only program sponsored by SFUSD.

GLO is a non-profit organization that runs afterschool programs at six San Francisco schools (Alvarado, Alice Fong, Diane Feinstein, Fairmont, Sherman and West Portal). The ExCEL program is designed “to create and sustain ‘safe havens’ at public schools where students and community members can access expanded learning opportunities and integrated education, health, social service, and cultural programs in the out-of-school hours.” Notifications about eligibility are sent out during the second week of school. Enrichment program includes Chinese language, dance, and art instruction
Cost: $30/day + $4 early drop-off (regular program starts at 3PM)
Schedule: M-F until 6:00 PM
Transportation: available for $5/day if at least 4 kids from Alvarado sign up
