Come help spruce up the school garden!
Please join us Sunday, March 9, for a Garden Work Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We need your help to beautify the green schoolyard where Alvarado students learn, play, and explore everyday. Maintaining our green schoolyard is a community effort. Thanks for your support!
We will meet briefly as an Outdoor Ed/Garden commitee at 11 a.m. in the Secret Garden.
Saturday Percussion Workshop
Please join us Saturday, March 8, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the cafeteria when music teacher Mr. Zeke introduces his teacher, master percussionist John Santos. Santos is a five-time Grammy nominee and is resident artistic director at SFJAZZ. Both musicians will be joined by Carlos Caro, considered the best Bongosero from Cuba in the timba style. To see more of their careers, visit www.carloscaro.net and www.johnsantos.com.
Consider bringing along bulk food like white rice, pasta, cooking oil or dried black beans to the Percussion Workshop this Saturday. (No cans please.) Monetary donations are tax deductible and even better for purchasing perishables. Checks can be made to Alvarado PTA with “food bank” in the memo line. Thank you for your generosity.
Carpool2School Week March 10 to 14
Families are encouraged to carpool to school and log their trips on WePool2School.org for the chance to win prizes during Carpool2School Week March 10 to 14. The goal is to reduce congestion around schools, decrease the number of families driving alone to and from school, and foster greater awareness of the benefits of carpooling. The more you carpool, the greater chance you’ll win! The “Poolest School” will receive a grand prize.
Spring After-School Clubs are Here
Spring After-School Clubs will run for ten weeks from Monday, March 3 to Friday, May 16 (with one week off for spring break). If your child is assigned to a club, please return both the form and the waiver by Tuesday, February 25. Questions? Email firstname.lastname@example.org.

School Pages is a new school-wide directory and communications system. It is secure and private to our school only. It can be organized by class, and it allows you to communicate with your fellow parents directly. To register, first email the coordinator at SchoolPages@alvaradoschool.net, and your email will be entered into the system. Next, click on the SchoolPages link on the menu bar and register. Once registered, you can update your own information, sign up for volunteer activities, communicate with parents in your child’s grade and more.
We encourage suggestions on how to make using SchoolPages even better. Questions? Comments? Please email the coordinator at SchoolPages@alvaradoschool.net.
